Watch your IPTV on Android
On Android, Wemovexa IPTV works two ways: in Chrome with nothing to install, or through the Android app distributed as an APK, which carries the same interface and plays streams directly. Here is how to choose and how to set up the device.
Chrome or app: the practical differences
- In Chrome, HLS playback goes through hls.js and your provider's HTTP streams are relayed over HTTPS by the built-in proxy, since Chrome blocks mixed content. Nothing to install, and the interface is always the latest version.
- In the app, Android's WebView allows HTTP streams to play directly, so there is no relay. For live channels the app can use Android's native video player, which is lighter than JavaScript playback, and it keeps the screen on while you watch. It is the recommended option for Android TV boxes and TVs.
Either way you get the Channels, Movies, Series and History tabs, search, favorites, now-and-next programme information and an English or French interface.
Using Wemovexa IPTV in Chrome for Android
Add it to your home screen
Open the player in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen (the wording depends on the version). The icon then launches the player full screen without an address bar. Firefox for Android can also add it to the home screen.
Touch controls
In full screen, tap the picture to bring up the controls. During a movie or episode, a position bar lets you tap a point to jump there or drag to scrub; ⏪ 10 s and 10 s ⏩ buttons sit either side of the play button. Rotate the phone and the interface adapts to portrait or landscape.
Battery and background
In a browser, Wemovexa IPTV doesn't stop playback when you switch apps, but Android and Chrome may suspend the video to save power. If playback pauses too quickly, open Settings › Apps › Chrome › Battery and choose Unrestricted (the exact wording varies between manufacturers).
Mobile data
An HD stream can easily use several gigabytes an hour, depending on your provider's bitrate. On 4G or 5G, choose an HD version over 4K or FHD when a channel offers several, and keep an eye on your data plan.
Installing the Android app (APK)
- Open the player in Chrome on the Android device. A banner offers to download the APK; the same link is under Settings › About.
- When you open the file, Android asks you to allow installs from this source: accept for the browser you used (Install unknown apps). You can revoke that permission afterwards.
- Tap Install, then Open.
- Enter your IPTV subscription access, just as in the browser.
On an Android TV box without a browser, a file manager or a downloader app can fetch the APK; the Smart TV guide covers remote-control use. When a new APK version is published, the app tells you and explains that the new version must be installed over the old one.
In the app, if it stays in the background for more than a minute while something is playing, playback stops to free up the connection to your subscription — worth remembering before you switch to another app.
In the app: Back button, qualities and language
Android's Back button (on the phone or on a TV box remote) first closes whatever is open: the category list, the quality picker, a movie or series page, then Settings. Once there is nothing left to close, a first press shows a "press Back again to quit" message, and a second press within two and a half seconds exits the app. That way you don't leave by accident while stepping back through screens.
Many providers carry the same channel in several versions (4K, FHD, HD, SD, H.265). The quality filter lets you tick only the ones you want listed, which keeps things tidy on a small screen. H.265 (HEVC) channels, often unplayable in a desktop browser, are usually decoded by the Android app, depending on the device's chip.
The interface language is set in Settings; on Auto, it follows the device's system language.
Troubleshooting on Android
- "Install blocked": Play Protect or the unknown-sources permission. Make sure the APK came from the official player, then allow the browser.
- Black screen on a channel: the phone's chip may not decode that format; try another quality (FHD, HD, H.265 depending on the case).
- "HTTP stream on an HTTPS page" in Chrome: tap the button shown to turn the relay back on. This message never appears in the app.
- Channels won't load on a box: try a public DNS (1.1.1.1) in the box's network settings, as the player itself suggests.
- No channels: check your access with the Xtream Codes web player and online M3U player pages.
- No current programme: see EPG TV guide.
