Watch your IPTV on a Windows PC
On Windows you get a choice: open Wemovexa IPTV in the browser you already use, or run the desktop app — a plain .zip file that reads IPTV servers directly. This guide compares both and walks through every step.
Browser or desktop app?
| Browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox) | Windows app | |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | None | .zip file to extract, no installer |
| HTTP streams | Relayed over HTTPS by the built-in proxy | Read directly by the app, server relay as a fallback |
| Interface updates | Automatic | Automatic (the app loads the online player) |
| Background | Playback continues | Stops after one minute in the background |
The browser is enough for most people. The app makes sense if your provider streams over plain HTTP and you would rather streams did not go through the relay: in the app, the PC makes the request itself.
Option 1: in the browser
Open the player in Microsoft Edge, Chrome or Firefox. Edge and Chrome share the same engine: HLS goes through hls.js, with an automatic fallback to the .ts stream. A few Windows-specific points:
- Install from Edge: menu … › Apps › Install this site as an app. Wemovexa IPTV then opens in its own window and can be pinned to the taskbar.
- H.265/HEVC channels: in Edge, HEVC decoding depends on your graphics hardware and Windows' HEVC video extensions. If an H.265 channel stays black, pick another quality of the same channel.
- Power mode: on a laptop, Windows battery saver and the browser's own saver can hurt smoothness. Plug in, or choose a balanced power mode.
Browser-specific settings are covered in the Chrome guide and the Firefox guide.
Option 2: the Windows desktop app
Download
Open the player in a browser on Windows: a banner offers a Windows download. The same link is available under Settings › About. The file is a .zip archive for 64-bit Windows.
Extract and launch
In File Explorer, right-click the archive › Extract All… and choose a permanent folder (for instance inside Documents). Don't launch the app from inside the .zip, or Windows will run it from a temporary folder. Open the extracted folder and double-click the executable. You can then pin it to the taskbar.
The SmartScreen warning
The app is not digitally signed, so on first launch Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" with an unknown publisher. If you downloaded the archive from the official player, click More info and then Run anyway. Never run a copy you received from anywhere else.
What the app does
It displays the online player in a dedicated window, so the interface is always current. The executable itself, however, does not update automatically; a new version is downloaded the same way as the first. Streams from your server, even over HTTP, are read directly by the PC; if that fails, the app automatically retries through the built-in proxy relay. If the window stays minimised for more than a minute during a live channel, playback stops to free up the connection to your subscription.
Keyboard and TV use
Arrow keys, Enter and Esc drive the whole interface; ▲ ▼ switch channels in full screen and ◀ ▶ skip five seconds in a movie. To show the PC on a TV, connect it over HDMI and press Windows + P to choose Duplicate or Second screen only. In a browser, F11 hides the toolbars once you have used the player's Full screen button.
Troubleshooting
- SmartScreen blocks with no "Run anyway" button: a company policy or antivirus forbids it; use the browser instead.
- Black screen: try another quality of the channel, then check the browser's graphics acceleration.
- "HTTP stream on an HTTPS page" in the browser: use the button shown to turn the relay back on.
- No channels: check the access you entered, see Xtream Codes web player and online M3U player.
- Missing current programme: see EPG TV guide.
- Playback cuts out when another device starts: many IPTV subscriptions only allow one connection at a time. Stop playback on the TV or phone before starting a channel on the PC, and use the Stop button rather than just closing the window.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Windows app have an installer?
No. It is a .zip archive: extract it to a folder and run the executable. No installer, and nothing to uninstall beyond deleting the folder.
Why does Windows say "unknown publisher"?
The app is not digitally signed. If the archive came from the official player, choose More info and then Run anyway.
Does the app update itself?
The interface does, because it is loaded online. The executable does not: a new version is downloaded just like the first one.
Browser or app: which should I use?
The browser is enough in most cases. The app reads HTTP servers directly, without going through the relay.
